BUILDER AGENT SETUP GUIDE

Connect once. Add your paperwork. Review the result.

Start with your company’s AI connection, then let Builder Agent help set up your company and build your project. The same connection also runs Opportunity Finder.

STEP 1

Connect your company’s AI account

Sign in and open Builder Agent. A company Owner or Admin enters the company’s OpenAI API key in the connection box and selects Connect company OpenAI key. Wait for the Connected message. You only need one connection for the company—not a key for every employee.

Builder Agent is optional. OpenAI bills your company directly at its standard API rates, with no markup from ContractorComply. Never put your key in an uploaded document or a chat message.

Open Builder Agent

STEP 2

Find work with the same AI connection

Your company connection also powers Opportunity Finder. Open it, choose the type of work and area you want to search, review the search controls, and start the search. It can return opportunities from SAM.gov, state and local procurement, and public bid boards.

Open the original notice to confirm the deadline, scope, and submission instructions. Analyze a selected result when you want a closer look. Search and analysis use your connected AI account; a result is not a guarantee of eligibility or an award.

STEP 3

Add your company and project documents

Choose the complete project package. You can select several files, then return to add another batch before starting. Include your company details, insurance, W-9, signed contract or subcontract, plans, specifications, schedules, and any other relevant supporting documents.

Check the file list and remove duplicates or incorrect versions. Selecting files does not start AI analysis. When the package is ready, select Build Project — Analyze All Files Once.

Add your documents

STEP 4

Answer questions and make corrections

Builder Agent reads the package and prepares your company and project information. Check which company or trade name is doing the work and whether you are the general contractor or a subcontractor. Answer its questions, then select Apply Answers to Project Draft.

Need to add something? Choose more supporting documents, then select Add All Files & Recheck Once. You can also ask questions or request corrections in Builder Agent. Preview, replace, or remove uploaded sources when needed.

Review your package

STEP 5

Review and finish setup

Select Package Complete — Continue to Final Review. Check names, project scope, dates, requirements, and the proposed document locations. Builder Agent can suggest company details for blank fields; it does not silently overwrite saved company information. Confirm any proposed trade name belongs to your company.

When everything is right, finish project setup. Included reusable documents are filed in the Vault, and job-specific documents are connected to the project. Review the saved result. Approval of setup is not a certification that your company meets every requirement.

Open the Compliance Vault

STEP 6

Use ComplyWatch for your daily review

Open ComplyWatch to see missing, overdue, expiring, and review-needed records identified from your saved information. Follow an issue to its record, add the missing information or document, and confirm the status updates.

Keep adding documents and reviewing requirements as the job progresses. Prefer to enter things yourself? Project Workflow provides a guided manual path without an AI connection.

QUICK HELP

A few common questions

Do I need a separate AI connection for Opportunity Finder?+

No. Builder Agent and Opportunity Finder use the same company AI connection.

Can I use ContractorComply without AI?+

Yes. Use Project Workflow to enter company and project information manually, upload documents, and work through the steps.

What if the connection does not work?+

Ask your company Owner or Admin to check the connection and use Test connection. Read the displayed error before trying again. Check API billing and model access in the provider account if the message points to them. Contact support if you remain blocked, but never send your API key.

What if the draft describes the wrong company or scope?+

Ask Builder Agent to correct it before approval. State your performing company, trade name, role, and scope plainly. Then check the final review. Do not approve responsibilities that do not apply to your work.
